Bio

Born in Michoacán, México in 1993, Hugo is currently seeking a Communication BA and a Documentary Studies minor at the University of Utah. From there, he previously graduated with a BA in Film and Media Arts and continues to pursue his passion for storytelling across various media formats. From creating an award winning documentary series, UOrgs; shedding light on student groups and clubs at the University of Utah campus, to working on narrative, animated, and live action film projects. He uses film to explore his cultural roots and give people a glimpse at his perspective and understanding of different social issues.

Camel                                                                              Short film – Key Grip, 2018
  • Responsible for special effects, such as a fire-sprinkler breaking and smoke effects on set.
  • Lighting of the set and rigging of lights inside of a computer tower.
  • Assisted Cinematographer with translation of the camera rigs/ facilitation of its set ups.

The Outsider.                                            Short film – On Set Sound Recordist, 2018
  • Worked side-by-side with the Cinematographer to record sound as efficiently as possible.

  • Directed a total of thirteen actors through an emotionally segmented film.
  • Operated a 16mm Bolex camera while using multiple types of film stock.

  • Directed actors as they performed without environments and magical obstacles that are to be added in post-production.
